Contract Awarded to Provide Market-Leading Products for One of World's Largest Healthcare Information Systems
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. and CHANTILLY, Va. -- AccuSoft[R] Corporation, the leading provider of imaging software development toolkits (SDKs), today announced its new contract with Apptis, Inc., a leading IT solutions and services provider to the federal marketplace, to support their imaging needs as they develop the military's medical and dental clinical information system for the United States Department of Defense (DoD). As part of the agreement, Apptis plans to license AccuSoft's ImageGear MD toolkit as well as utilize AccuSoft's ImageTransport communications software at 6 pilot sites, with the potential to expand the program to include all active military hospitals inside and outside the continental United States. AccuSoft estimates the full deployment value of the contract to be in excess of $1 million.
Apptis is designing the imaging capabilities of the DoD's AHLTA electronic health record system which will generate and maintain a comprehensive, life-long, computer-based patient record system with global accessibility. The project requires reliable, proven technology for medical imaging, image processing and image transport that AccuSoft's products offer. Since 2002, AccuSoft's ImageGear Professional and ImageGear MD SDKs have successfully supported the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) electronic health records system, known as VistA.
"One of the key reasons we chose AccuSoft was the company's proven success with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' groundbreaking VistA medical records application," said Barclay Butler, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Health Solutions Sector, Apptis, Inc. "We are dedicated to providing the DoD with the best possible electronic medical records system and firmly believe that AccuSoft's imaging software will help accelerate our development and provide speed and efficiency for the system's users around the world. "We're honored to have been awarded this contract to help Apptis, a proven federal technology leader, as they help develop the next generation of one of the largest electronic healthcare information systems in the world," said Tom Leone, President, AccuSoft Corporation. "With healthcare becoming more global, there is a heightened demand to advance the level of imaging and document management.
