Negotiation Period Extended for Border Area Non-NPSPAC & NPSPAC Licensees in Wave 4, Stages 1 and 2
Business Wire, Jan 7, 2008
WASHINGTON -- On December 31, 2007, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Public Notice jointly extending the mandatory negotiation periods for border area non-NPSPAC (Stage 1) and NPSPAC (Stage 2) licensees in Wave 4 to April 1, 2008 and postponing the start of the mediation period for such licensees until April 2, 2008. The FCC also extended the filing freeze on new applications in Wave 4 border areas until June 13, 2008. Reconfiguration of licensees located in, or affected by, the border area is affected by ongoing discussions with the Governments of Mexico and Canada regarding border area band plans.
During the extended negotiation period, Wave 4, Stages 1 and 2 licensees located in, or affected by, the border area are not required to engage in planning or negotiation activities prior to the receipt of proposed replacement frequencies from the TA, though the FCC encourages them to engage in such activities to the extent that they are not frequency-dependent and would not result in unnecessary duplication of costs. If planning funding is required, licensees will need to submit a Request for Planning Funding (RFPF) to the TA and negotiate a Planning Funding Agreement (PFA) with Sprint Nextel.
For questions regarding the Public Notice, please contact the TA by phone at (888) 800-8220, by fax at (888) 701-4380, or via email at comments@800TA.org
