NetApp FAS2020 Named Best Unified Storage Solution of the Year by InfoWorld
Business Wire, Jan 9, 2008
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Cited as "raising the bar for manageability and performance of other arrays in its class," the NetApp[R] FAS2020 was named "Best Unified Storage Solution of the Year" in InfoWorld's 2008 Technology of the Year honors. This marks the third time in the last four years that NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) has been honored by InfoWorld with a Technology of the Year award.
The architectural simplicity of all NetApp storage systems and the new FAS2000 series in particular allows customers to readily consolidate direct-attached storage (DAS) into a single networked solution and scale on demand. By simply pooling storage, NetApp lets midsize enterprise customers logically allocate data resources as needed. This ability to speed the overall provisioning process means an accelerated ability to control changing environments and adapt rapidly to new business opportunities and challenges. Whether for primary or secondary storage, the FAS2000 series accommodates both midsize and distributed enterprises (remote offices/branch offices) by offering integrated block- and file-level data access, intelligent management software, and data protection capabilities in a cost-effective package. The FAS2000 series as part of the NetApp FAS family helps maintain a single unified architecture across all tiers of storage.
The InfoWorld awards recognize significant technologies of the past year that promise to make the greatest impact on enterprise IT strategies as well as the products that best exemplify the implementation of those technologies. The InfoWorld Technology of the Year awards are not open to outside nomination; only products reviewed by InfoWorld's Test Center during the previous year are eligible. The final selections are made by InfoWorld's Test Center analysts and editors.
"InfoWorld tests upwards of 200 IT products every year, and we see many, many good ones," said Doug Dineley, InfoWorld's Test Center Executive Editor. "Our Technology of the Year award winners represent not only the cream of the crop, but the best products in the most important product categories. From the top AJAX development tools and SOA middleware to the best blade servers and VoIP systems, these are the products at the leading edge of IT."
"NetApp is honored to be selected by InfoWorld for our FAS2020 system," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at NetApp. "InfoWorld is recognized for its editorial excellence, strong technology industry analysis, and solid product evaluations. This award validates our technology innovation and the customers who have chosen the FAS2020 series to maximize their data infrastructures while minimizing complexity, overhead, and technical staffing costs."
