Business Wire, July 10, 2008
Canadian Super Star Ron Fellows to Drive No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet in Road Race
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- GoDaddy.com, the world's largest domain name registrar, is celebrating a move by its parent company into Canada with the broadcast sponsorship of a marquee NASCAR road race on Canadian television.
GoDaddy.com is the official broadcast sponsor for the NASCAR Napa Auto Parts 200 on TSN, Canada's leading 24-hour all-sports network Aug. 2 in Montreal. Also featured in the upcoming road course competition, Canadian road racing ace Ron Fellows takes the wheel of the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet. The veteran is one of Canada's most popular drivers. Fellows' career includes three road-course wins.
"You could say the stars aligned for this Montreal race," said GoDaddy.com CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. "Ron Fellows is a fan favorite in Canada. He'll be in our Go Daddy car and he's right at home driving a road course. The broadcast sponsorship is the icing on the cake."
The No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet was designed by NASCAR's most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who also drives the Nationwide Series Chevrolets sponsored by GoDaddy.com, along with Mark Martin. Both drivers have already competed in the car. The upcoming Montreal race will be Fellows' debut in the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet.
"It is fitting for me to be in this car for this race," said Fellows. "It's a sharp-looking car, it was designed by Dale, Jr. and Go Daddy is all about performance. I'm pumped and ready to roll in Montreal."
The Go Daddy Group, Inc. is leveraging the sponsorship to officially announce entry into the Canadian market with its new subsidiary, Go Daddy Domains Canada. While Go Daddy already counts some of its 5.5 million customers in Canada, it's working to serve even more. Go Daddy Domains Canada recently opened its office in Ontario, Canada. It is a certified .CA registrar and by race time, hopes to be offering customers .CA domain names. .CA is the top-level domain (TLD) delegated to Canada. GoDaddy.com offers more than 40 TLDs.
GoDaddy.com is also one of the top Web hosting companies in the world and hosts Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s blog, www.GoDaddy.com/DaleJr. You can also find news about Ron Fellows and Mark Martin on the site.
The GoDaddy.com broadcast of the Napa Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series begins Saturday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. EDT on TSN, Canada's Sports Leader.
