TCW Growth Equities and TCW Small Cap Growth Named "Category Kings" in Quarterly Mutual Fund Rankings

Business Wire,  July 10, 2008

LOS ANGELES -- The TCW Group, Inc. is proud to recognize a special achievement by the portfolio management team of the TCW Growth Equities Fund and the TCW Small Cap Growth Fund, which were both named "Category Kings" in The Wall Street Journal last week.

In the newspaper's quarterly "Investing in Funds" section published July 3, the two TCW funds ranked in the top 10 among competing funds in their respective asset classes. The top-performing funds in each category were ranked by one-year total return as of June 30, 2008.

The TCW Growth Equities Fund (Nasdaq: TGGEX) and the TCW Small Cap Growth Fund (Nasqaq: TGSCX) are managed by Brendt Stallings and Husam Nazer. Mr. Stallings leads TCW Growth Equities, a mid-cap strategy, and Mr. Nazer leads the small cap fund.

"These strategies reflect the excellence we strive to achieve in all of our investment funds," said TCW Chief Executive Officer Robert Beyer. "We congratulate the team on this well-deserved recognition, which is even more significant given the negative headwinds in the equity markets this year."

Mr. Stallings added: "A good deal of the credit goes to our top-notch equity research analysts. They are crucial to the success of these two investment strategies."

Mr. Nazer gave a nod to the names in their portfolios: "The bottom line is that the companies we invested in delivered strong earnings. They met and beat expectations, despite a weak U.S. economy."
