Kay Koplovitz Joins Advisory Board for Boardroom Consultants

NEW YORK -- Kay Koplovitz, Chairman and CEO of Koplovitz & Co. and respected pioneer in cable television networks and new media ventures, has joined the Boardroom Consultants Advisory Board.

In this role, Ms. Koplovitz will bring a distinguished record of senior leadership across a variety of business and professional activities to the Advisory Board, which applies the collective experience and insights of current and former chief executive officers and other respected business leaders to the diverse services offered by Boardroom Consultants.

She currently is Chairman of the Board of Liz Claiborne and has served on the boards of Instinet, Oracle, Nabisco, and General Re. She also is widely recognized for her visionary insights and leading role in shaping the cable television industry, as well as her success as a venture capitalist, speaker, author and champion of an expanding role for women as successful business entrepreneurs.

Ms. Koplovitz was the first woman to head a television network when she founded USA Networks under the banner of Madison Square Garden Sports in 1977. She launched major professional and collegiate sports on cable television by negotiating the first contracts and creating first cable coverage for Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, the Masters from Augusta Georgia, the US Tennis Open and a collection of NCAA conference sporting events. She led USA Networks to first place in cable primetime ratings, where it remained for 14 years. In 1992, she launched the Sci-Fi Channel, and in 1994 launched USA Networks International.
