New Border Security Technology Demonstrated for Consideration in U.S. Border Protection
Business Wire, July 15, 2008
OMAHA, Neb. -- 21st Century Systems, Inc. (21CSI) demonstrated its state-of-the-art High Resolution Situational Awareness (HiRSA[TM]) software system that provides situational awareness software for potential use in U.S. border security at a military testing facility in Yuma, Arizona, earlier last month.
Earlier this year, 21CSI was selected to provide its' differentiating sensor management technology for the initial phase of the Jordan Border Security Program, which was awarded to DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) by the U.S. Army's Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM). The DRS integrated border surveillance system will provide Distant Sentry[TM] surveillance towers that utilize a variety of sensors. HiRSA, as an integral part of the Distant Sentry system, significantly reduces operating time and the manpower required to secure any perimeter, from buildings and building complexes to miles of open terrain.
"HiRSA's versatility and scalability allows the technology to be adapted to multiple mission domains, such as assisting border patrol agents," said Jeffrey D. Hicks, chairman and CEO of 21CSI. "The technology demonstration at the Yuma Proving Grounds proved that our simple to use, yet comprehensive, software can complete any task it encounters--for any branch of the service--on air, land and sea."
Additionally, the HiRSA technology is being considered by several branches of the U.S. armed services, among others, for development to address their persistent surveillance and force protection requirements. In Yuma, 21CSI successfully demonstrated the sensor management and decision support software helping to discern legitimate threats from non-threatening objects, such as tumbleweeds and wild burros.
"The potential exists for more data than a human can interpret in a minimal timeframe when securing a perimeter," explained Hicks. "21CSI delivers the ability to translate complex information into tangible knowledge, which allows an operator to respond in a timely manner."
A broad range of entities attended at the demonstration, including representatives from government and industry organizations with special interests in securing critical facilities and assets.
21CSI develops decision support software to help operators manage complex, high-stress, rapidly changing environments through sound, computer-assisted data monitoring and decision making. Intelligent agents embedded in the systems enable the software to adapt, respond, and learn from individual users in a variety of different situations. Find us on the web at http://www.21CSI.com.
