TAITRONICS BANGKOK 2008 Plugs Taiwan Into the Pulse ASEAN Electronics

Business Wire,  July 16, 2008

BANGKOK, Thailand -- It's hot in Bangkok, but the hottest show yet in the kingdom's capital is the 3rd TAITRONICS BANGKOK 2008. The four-day event successfully wrapped up July 13th with a record turn-out of more than 5,000 visitors, a 27% increase in visitors compared with last year's show. Among them were professional buyers, altogether 1,428, who came to procure the latest innovative quality products.

Since its first show in 2006 TAITRONICS BANGKOK has grown into Thailand's best trade show on electronics. The event is now annually organized by TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council), the Taiwan Electric and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), and the Thai-Taiwan Business Association continue to grow with each year to bring heated business opportunities.

Sourcing at the venue were representatives from Japanese manufacturers in Thailand, including TOSHIBA, SHARP, MITSUBISHI, and KENYO. They gave top marks to the quality and diversity of items exhibited. In addition, more than 600 rounds of one-on-one procurement meetings were held during the show. Major local Thai buyers such as QUALITY ASSEMBLY (THAILAND) CO., LTD, Marlik Import & Export Trading Co., and TAVON ELECTRONIC COMPANY LIMITED enthusiastically signed up for the meetings. These meetings helped to spur orders and subsequent trading value to more than U$3 million. Among the most popular items were LED and MP4s.

In one case TATUNG CO, Taiwan's flagship electronics firm, who was at the show for the third straight year running settled a purchase order with TS Group, the largest distributor in central and northern Thailand on the first day of the show for 1,000 units of its ONYX CRT series flat-Panel TV and as a result successfully made the first move into the key central and northern markets of Thailand. Meanwhile TATUNG's efforts to promote its home appliances, such as rice cookers and health juice mixers on the Thailand market have won a lot of sales and inquiries.

Another hit at the show was the mini-computer, Acer Aspire One that was introduced by Acer only last month. On-site transactions at the show and subsequent orders have already exceeded 300 units. TAITRA estimates that total onsite and subsequent trading value brought about by this event will likely exceed US$5 million.

Thai government authorities, including the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Thai Association of Electrical and Electronics Industries (TEEI), all sent high-profile representatives to visit the show and offered many local resources to make this the best show yet.
