Learn.net Acquires Collaboration and Distance Learning Software to Become the First Complete Provider of Blended Learning Technologies
Business Wire, July 16, 2008
ROSWELL, Ga. -- According to company sources, Learn.net has completed the purchase of the interactive distance learning (IDL) and collaboration software from the Savant Technology Group. With this acquisition, Learn.net is launching a new phase of the company and marketing itself as "The Blended Learning Technologies Company," focusing on enterprise and federal government clients in need of distributed training technologies.
A company executive observed that during its past 12 years as a provider of enterprise-caliber, learning management systems (LMS), the company successfully established a client base with such industry leaders as Equifax, Allstate and American National Insurance Companies. In addition, Learn.net developed a solid reputation as an integrator of customized training delivery and certification software platforms for associations and "expertise centers" like the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), the Independent Insurance Agents (IIA) associations, the Housing Telecommunications Video Network, the world renowned E. Robert Parker wine expertise center and the C. Richard Weylman virtual university. For these organizations, Learn.net provides the content delivery, testing, tracking and reporting of learners' performance using rich media and training courses ranging from videos and simulations to multi-media presentations.
According to training industry veteran, Johan Praats, Executive Vice President of Learn.net, "This acquisition completes our holistic software suite; we now provide technology solutions to accommodate the full spectrum of training environments--from instructor-led classes to satellite-delivered IDL to internet- and LMS-based on-demand and live interactive training. These solutions do not operate in a vacuum as 'islands' but are all pre-integrated elements of an enterprise-class training system." Learn.net solutions are designed to effectively compete with solutions from WebEx[TM], Arel[TM] and OneTouch Systems[TM].
The Learn.net collaboration and interactive video conferencing software enables corporate trainers to deliver live, rich-media courses via the internet using two-way video and audio for interactivity. The systems incorporate many powerful tools to engage and measure the audience such as a world-class testing tool, "hand-up" Q&A, application sharing, whiteboarding, brainstorming, chat, and blogs.
Larry Duckworth, Learn.net's CEO, observed that "Customers want a one-source, pre-integrated training solution that is safe, easy to implement, flexible, and low in ownership cost. We are uniquely "The Blended Learning Technologies Company."
