Former U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Meehan to Join Conrad O'Brien
Business Wire, July 16, 2008
PHILADELPHIA -- Conrad O'Brien Gellman & Rohn, P.C. is pleased to announce that Patrick L. Meehan, one of the most respected U.S. Attorneys in the country, has joined the firm as a shareholder effective July 21. His practice will focus on representing multi-national corporations and individuals in white collar criminal matters, internal corporate investigations and a wide range of corporate commercial litigation.
Mr. Meehan served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since 2001. His work on public corruption, corporate and health care/pharmaceutical fraud and counter-terrorism has earned him national recognition. In fact, early on in his tenure, Mr. Meehan was selected by President George W. Bush to serve as one of six U.S. Attorneys on the President's Corporate Fraud Task Force. Prior to serving as U.S. Attorney, Mr. Meehan served as the District Attorney of Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Jim Rohn, Chairman of the Firm and a former First Assistant U.S. Attorney, said, "We are delighted to have Pat come on board. He is an outstanding lawyer and a public servant whose integrity and credibility are of the highest order. On top of that, he is an all around tremendous individual. Pat's considerable talents and breadth of experience will be of great value to our clients."
When asked why he chose Conrad O'Brien to re-enter private practice, Mr. Meehan responded, "The firm has earned a reputation for handling some of the most sensitive, complex and difficult criminal and investigatory matters facing major companies, financial institutions and directors and officers around the country. I am excited about the opportunity to work with my predecessors and former colleagues from the U.S. Attorney's office, including former U.S. Attorney and U.S. District Court Chief Judge Louis Bechtle. The firm is widely regarded as having one of the most powerful teams for 'high stakes' litigation matters, and I look forward to working shoulder to shoulder with its outstanding lawyers."
Before being elected Delaware County District Attorney, Mr. Meehan served as senior counsel and executive director for United States Senator Arlen Specter, and worked as an associate with the law firm of Dilworth Paxson. He is a 1978 graduate of Bowdoin College (B.A.) and received his law degree from Temple University School of Law in 1986. Mr. Meehan resides in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania with his wife Carolyn and their three children.
Conrad O'Brien is one of the country's leading litigation law firms with a client base of multi-national corporations, entrepreneurial start-ups, partnerships and individuals. The firm is recognized in 2008 Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business as "an excellent midsized firm with top tier partners" who continue to make their "mark on sophisticated commercial litigation." The firm is known for its work handling complex and sensitive commercial litigation, class actions, white collar criminal defense, professional liability, products liability, personal injury and mass torts matters.
