DMI MUSIC & MEDIA SOLUTIONS NAMES MUSIC VETERAN PAUL MURPHY AS VP OF STRATEGIC MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
DMI Music & Media Solutions today announced that veteran music industry marketer Paul Murphy has joined the company as vice president of strategic marketing and business development.
Murphy joins DMI from The Recording Academy, where he was senior director, marketing and strategic alliances for the GRAMMY Awards and the Latin GRAMMY Awards. While there, he developed several innovative partnerships with media and corporate entities such as XM Radio, USA Today, Borders, Verizon, Heineken and Westwood One. He also helped launch the popular "My Grammy Moment" contest, which galvanized thousands of amateur musicians to submit performances online for the chance to perform during the GRAMMY Awards broadcast with the likes of Justin Timberlake and the Foo Fighters. Under his marketing direction, the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards in February 2007 received its highest rating in five years.
Along with his tenure at The Recording Academy, Murphy has provided marketing and business strategy for Clear Channel Entertainment/SFX, Licensemusic.com and Feld Entertainment, producers of Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey circus and Disney On Ice.
"Paul has a proven track record for creating partnerships that strengthen brands and deliver measurable results," said Tena Clark, founder and CEO/Chief Creative Officer of DMI Music & Media Solutions. "Adding someone with his background and wealth of industry contacts gives DMI a great advantage as we continue our growth and expansion into new markets."
Murphy will help bring DMI new business and strategic partners as it continues to create unique music and media services for major brands.
"We've built a team of industry innovators with a passion for connecting clients and brands to customized media solutions that meet their unique objectives," said Lynne Leger, senior vice president of strategic marketing and business development at DMI Music & Media Solutions. "Paul brings to us a creative mind that can identify unique and tailored solutions for our partners."
"DMI is at the cutting edge of strategically integrating brands with music," said Murphy. "I'm excited to work with such a dynamic group of people that is creating a new business model for the music industry."
