Providing Artificial Limbs to Amputees Leads TAPC to Be Named the "Best Place to Work" in Houston by Houston Business Journal

Business Wire,  July 2, 2008

HOUSTON -- The Houston Business Journal recently announced that the Amputee and Prosthetic Center is the "Best Place to Work" among Houston-based companies with 1 to 100 employees. The Best Places to Work drew hundreds of nominations from various Houston companies that were impartially evaluated, scored and ranked; of these 40 were chosen to be honored as the best places to work.

"Being named as the Best Place to Work in Houston this year after being named 2nd best last year is the pinnacle of our company's success," says Joe Sansone, CEO of the Amputee and Prosthetic Center.

Forget the free coffee and occasional company provided meals. Employees at the Amputee and Prosthetic Center say that they're rewarded by their company simply by having the ability to do what they do everyday. "It's such an incredible 'perk' that we offer our employees the ability to help our patients," said CEO Joe Sansone. "We provide prosthetic limbs for our patients and our work is extremely rewarding. For example our employee donations have funded Christmas for the children of one of our charity patients who would have otherwise received little or no Christmas presents. With just one day's notice our employees went shopping with their own money and overwhelmed the family with a multitude of Christmas presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. The mother also received 2 limbs free of charge so that she could be walking by Christmas."

We challenge our employees to 'dig deep' and find opportunities to improve upon our services, from the patient's perspective. Sansone says, "I think our employees derive a lot of satisfaction from building our company and taking care of our patients rather than simply providing a medical service. They know that what they do truly makes a difference in the lives of their patients." It's no wonder that the Amputee and Prosthetic Center, a wholly owed subsidiary of TMC Orthopedic has increased its revenue numbers 10 fold in just 2 u years. "It sort of all falls together," says Sansone, "taking care of the patients and taking care of our employees. The positive energy becomes contagious and everyone benefits."
