MORGES, Switzerland -- As part of its commitment to sustainability, Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH) is participating in the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) exhibition, "Building Blocks for Climate Change Solutions". The exhibition is being held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France (July 7-10, 2008) where Members of the European Parliament will discuss amendments to the European Commission's new legislative package on climate change and CO2 emissions.

Through an interactive exhibition that depicts all the areas of a house, 17 major chemical companies will demonstrate the chemical industry's ability to enable sustainable solutions through products in housing and transportation, major contributors to CO2 emissions in Europe.

Rohm and Haas technologies featured in the exhibit include innovation that enables:

* more sustainable packaging

* refined drinking water

* solar and wind energy

* advanced PVC pipe capabilities for manufacturers

* improved air quality

Rohm and Haas is the sponsor of a dinner program on July 9 entitled, "Sustainability: A Catalyst for Innovation." Gray Wirth, Rohm and Haas Vice President; President, Europe, Middle East and Africa Region and Member of the Research & Innovation Council of Cefic, will demonstrate the intricate and critical role chemistry plays in achieving a sustainable society through continued product innovation.

Gray Wirth will explain Rohm and Haas's approach to sustainability, in part through its new partnership with The Natural Step International (TNSI), coordinating body for The Natural Step global teams. The Natural Step is an international not-for-profit research, education and advisory organization that specializes in developing systematic, science-based approaches for organizations to become more sustainable. TNSI has been an integral partner for Rohm and Haas as the company integrates sustainability objectives in all of its business, research and development and operations.

"We are honored to have this opportunity to meet with Members of the European Parliament and to play a role in driving sustainable development in the chemical industry," said Wirth. "Rohm and Haas intends to be a leader in bringing sustainable development to the forefront of the industry by demonstrating how it can be a true catalyst for innovative product development, and ultimately profitable operations that benefit the broader society."
