Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Debbie Orshefsky Receives 'Top Women in Florida Commercial Real Estate' Award

Business Wire,  July 2, 2008

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announces that Debbie Orshefsky, a shareholder in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office, has been named among the Top Women in Florida Commercial Real Estate for 2008 by the Florida Real Estate Journal. She is the firm's third recipient of the award since the program began in 2003 and she will be honored on September 13 at a reception in Orlando.

The Top Women in Florida Commercial Real Estate award recognizes the industry's highest performing women throughout the state. Orshefsky, chair of the firm's national land development practice group, has been at the forefront of numerous sustainable community initiatives, including securing the entitlements for a 40-acre mixed-use development on the site of the Sheridan Tri-Rail Station and a former trailer park -- the first true Transit Oriented Development in Broward County. Orshefsky's recent successes also include obtaining rezoning and site plan approval for the proposed new and expanded Memorial Hospital Cancer Center and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

"This recognition is the culmination of 25 years of dedicated service to the sustainable future of Florida and, in particular, South Florida," said Greenberg Traurig president Matthew Gorson. "Debbie has been able to successfully balance public policy and commercial interests so that residents and businesses can thrive together."

Orshefsky is a longstanding member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and after serving on the Executive Committee of the ULI Southeast/Caribbean District Council for over five years, she was appointed Chair of the Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council in 2007.

Orshefsky focuses her practice in the areas of land development and environmental law, which has given her wide-ranging experience in comprehensive planning, zoning, subdivision controls, community redevelopment, infrastructure planning and financing, as well as state, regional and local roles in land use decision-making. Orshefsky received her J.D. from George Washington University and her B.A., summa cum laude, in Urban Studies, from Washington University.
