Distributed Decompression from BitLeap Helps Increase Restore Speeds By 300 Percent

Business Wire,  July 2, 2008

CARLISLE, Pa. -- BitLeap[R], LLC today announced major upgrades to its Windows[TM] Restore Tool.

The Windows[TM] Restore Tool, introduced last year, began as a means to restore a limited amount of data from a LeapServ while on a LAN. Since the beginning of 2008, the tool has seen dramatic improvements and is now the preferred method of restoring data saved through BitLeap's backup system.

Proxy authentication, point in time bulk restores, detailed restore logging and onscreen statistics are a few of the user-friendly features added recently. However, the multi-threading capabilities, optimized collections and the latest feature, distributed decompression, allow the application to restore data from a local LeapServ 300% faster than just 1 month ago.

Additionally, the Windows[TM] Restore Tool can also restore data from BitLeap's offsite data locations. This is a great way to restore data when not on the same network as the LeapServ.

Windows Restore Tool Features:
+ Distributed Decompression (new)
+ Point in Time Bulk Restores
+ Local LeapServ Restores
+ Encrypted Offsite Node Restores (new)
+ Restoration Stats
+ Detailed Restore Logging (new)
+ Automatic Restoration Recovery (new)
+ Proxy Authentication

About BitLeap

BitLeap's innovative backup solution was released in 2004. This solution allows businesses of any size to implement automatic offsite data backups with ease. BitLeap's backup solution is hardware-based, allowing customers to efficiently backup and retain their current and desired historic data both locally for quick network recovery and offsite securely to two geographically separated data centers.

Today, BitLeap continues to redefine the industry with a managed server line called LeapServ, which administers the bandwidth-efficient backup service. For more information about BitLeap, please visit http://www.bitleap.com.
