Lenox Hill Radiology Upgrades to Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall

Business Wire,  July 8, 2008

Health Care Provider Gains Application Visibility and Control While Simplifying Security Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Palo Alto Networks today announced that Lenox Hill Radiology has installed the PA-4000 Series next-generation firewall to replace its legacy firewall at all three of its facilities in New York City.

As a health care provider with an IT staff responsible for protecting sensitive Patient Health Information (PHI) flowing in and out of its locations, Lenox Hill Radiology is particularly attuned to its network's security. The fact that patient X-ray files are routinely sent and received internally and externally via the Internet between Lenox Hill Radiology's offices and other medical providers, makes its IT staff extra vigilant about security. Lenox Hill Radiology sought to enhance its security, simplify the management of its security environment and gain visibility into its network to better monitor and control application usage. Ideally, it hoped to find a solution that could consolidate multiple security functions in a single device, while also delivering comprehensive security.

"We looked at several other solutions on the market and found that they all required too many boxes, management interfaces and support contracts," said Joe Funaro, Director of IT for Lenox Hill Radiology. "After evaluating the PA-4000 Series, its ability to control applications and perform access control, as well as inspect content for threats and vulnerabilities - all through an easy, simple management structure - just blew us away."

"For enterprises serious about managing risk, visibility and control of applications is mandatory," said Steve Mullaney, Vice President of Marketing for Palo Alto Networks. "Traditional port based security can't manage applications. Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall makes it easy to identify and control threats and application usage on enterprise networks."
