Teams with Avaleris to Enable Integration for Smart Cards and Tokens

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) and professional services provider Avaleris have joined forces to provide two-factor authentication that is fully integrated with Microsoft's Active Directory and Identity Lifecycle Manager platform, increasing security across the enterprise organization.

In addition, Quest is a launch partner with Microsoft for its release of Identity Lifecycle Manager "2." Quest continues to invest in and develop new integration and interoperable points with Microsoft platforms and, specifically, Identity Lifecycle Manager, to ensure enterprise customers have unified solutions that optimize their IT infrastructure.

"Organizations are looking beyond the traditional security methods of a username and password because the demand to secure information has increased exponentially over the years," said Jackson Shaw, senior director, product management, Quest Software. "By integrating two-factor one-time password devices with Identity Lifecycle Manager's Certificate Management capabilities, organizations can now manage their security needs from a single view, minimizing the effort for administrators and empowering end users with self-service capabilities."

Quest Defender is a two-factor authentication solution that uses a smart card or token to create strong authentication for an organization's infrastructure. Avaleris created an extension for Quest Defender which enables seamless integration with Identity Lifecycle Manager's Certificate Management capabilities. Together, the two give organizations the flexibility to offer both one-time password devices and smart cards to solve challenging use-case scenarios. Once the credentials of users are issued to one-time password devices or smart cards, the lifecycles can be managed by Identity Lifecycle Manager.

"We are excited to work with Quest to produce an integrated provisioning and lifecycle management experience for our customers," said Conrad Bayer, senior vice president of identity & access management strategy, Avaleris. "This enables organizations to manage a range of authentication technologies including smart cards, one-time password devices and certificate-based credentials across the enterprise - as well as to further extend the value of their Active Directory-based identity management infrastructure."

"It is important to see two of our industry partners, Quest Software and Avaleris, team up to help solve our mutual customers' challenges around strong authentication," said John "JG" Chirapurath, director of identity and access marketing at Microsoft Corp. "It is exciting to have Quest as an Identity Lifecycle Manager '2' beta 3 launch partner."
