First Data Appoints CFO

DENVER -- Today, First Data appointed Phil Wall, 50, as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Previously, Wall served as senior vice president of finance for First Data's international operations. He succeeds Kim Patmore, who has served as First Data's CFO since February 2000. Patmore will stay on through a brief transition period.
"Phil's experience in leading First Data's international finance operations, coupled with his extensive financial services industry knowledge, will make his transition to CFO seamless and transparent," said Michael Capellas, chairman and chief executive officer of First Data. His background and deep understanding of the business will go a long way in helping us achieve our financial goals."
Wall joined First Data in January 2002 as vice president, finance, for Europe card services and shortly thereafter assumed responsibility for all First Data international finance operations. During that time, he oversaw acquisitions and alliances across 37 countries.
Prior to First Data, Wall held financial management roles with Equifax Inc, a global provider of information solutions, and with Schlumberger Inc. Originally from the United Kingdom, Wall has spent 13 years of his career overseas. He brings extensive experience in financial management disciplines including treasury, currency hedging and international tax structures. Wall holds a mechanical engineering degree from Imperial College, London University, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has an MBA from Oxford, Brookes University.
