New Report from Leading Research Firm Shows Citrix Continues to Increase Revenue and Marketshare in the SSL VPN Segment of the Enterprise Network Security Equipment Market
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, announced continued revenue growth and market share gains in the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) virtual private network (VPN) worldwide market according to a new May 2008 report from Gartner titled, "Market Share: Enterprise Network Security Equipment, Worldwide, 2007"1. In 2007, the Citrix Access Gateway[TM] secure access solution continued to strengthen its market share position, growing revenue by over 60 percent compared to 2006. Citrix increased its worldwide market share in the SSL VPN market, based on revenue, from approximately 15 percent in 2006 to approximately 18 percent in 2007.
The market for enterprise network security equipment continued to grow strongly in 2007, with robust growth in the SSL VPN segment - which grew by about 43 percent, compared with 20062, according to the Gartner report. Furthermore, growth is expected to continue in the specialized SSL VPN market, due to the more application- and datacenter-focused features required for secure and effective SSL VPN connectivity.
Citrix Access Gateway allows organizations to cost effectively extend access to datacenter resources from any location while maintaining unprecedented control over the use of those resources. With Access Gateway 8.1 announced today, Citrix is now providing the industry's first secure access solution for virtual desktops through integration with the Citrix XenDesktop[TM] product line.
"We believe that gaining SSL VPN market share in this competitive space is validation of our strategy of providing intelligent access to applications, desktops and datacenter resources rather than focusing on basic perimeter and network access," said Sanjay Uppal, vice president of product marketing at Citrix Systems, Inc. "As datacenters become increasingly virtualized and more computing resources move into the cloud, the role of traditional network-based access will continue to give way to application-oriented access solutions."
A member of the Citrix Delivery Center[TM] product family, Citrix Access Gateway is the only SSL VPN to securely deliver any application with policy-based SmartAccess control. Users have easy-to use secure access to the applications and data they need to be productive. Organizations can cost effectively extend access to datacenter resources from outside the office while maintaining unprecedented control through comprehensive Citrix[R] SmartAccess policies.
