Sparton to Debut the Latest in Digital Compass Technology at the AUVSI's Unmanned Systems North America 2008 Conference
Business Wire, June 10, 2008
JACKSON, Mich. -- Sparton Corporation (NYSE:SPA), the manufacturer of the SP3003D Digital Compass, today unveiled its next generation in digital compass technology. The new SP3004D Digital Compass offers faster and more accurate in-field calibration in both 2-D and 3-D configurations, while residing in the same footprint as the SP3003D.
The SP3004D Digital Compass is on display at the annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems North America 2008 Conference in San Diego, CA on June 10-12, 2008.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for the SP3003D, the SP3004D Digital Compass allows current users of the SP3003D to make a seamless transition to the enhanced functionality of the SP3004D. In addition to improved 3-D calibration, the latest digital compass includes a revolutionary 2-D calibration algorithm to optimize performance and allow fast, accurate, in-field, on-equipment calibration for platform-based applications. Further enhancements such as selectable baud rates (up to 115,200 Baud) and dynamic filter settings are now included.
The Sparton SP3004D three-axis digital compass also provides full 360 degrees tilt-compensated bearing, pitch, and roll. This unique, precise sensor provides continuous and exceptional accuracy in the presence of stray magnetic fields while automatically maintaining heading accuracy under motion conditions.
In keeping with Sparton's drive to provide cutting edge digital compass capability at the lowest price, we have today reduced the price of the SP3003D by $100 to $650 and set the price of the SP3004D at $650, as well.
Sparton is currently accepting orders for the new SP3004D Digital Compass and will begin fulfilling orders by the end of July.
Sparton's exhibit at AUVSI is located at booth No. 1929, where the unique features of a fully functional Sparton SP3004D Digital Compass are being demonstrated. Sparton representatives are available for additional discussions throughout the conference.
