Atrion, Cisco Announce Winner of $35,000 Wireless Network
Business Wire, June 11, 2008
WARWICK, R.I. -- Atrion Networking Corporation and Cisco Systems announce The Providence Community Health Centers, Inc., as the winner of their Unplug & Win $35,000 wireless network makeover contest. The announcement was made last night at the All Aboard technology networking event, hosted by Tech Collective. Cisco will contribute the products for the network while Atrion partners to deliver the design and services.
"We're thrilled to be able to provide such a worthy organization with the latest in wireless technology," said Melissa DelPrete, Atrion's Director of Marketing. "We know it will be a wonderful addition to the services they provide."
The Providence Community Health Centers (www.providencechc.org) operate eight health and dental facilities across the city, providing medical services to over 35,000 patients. Half of them are children. "A wireless network will allow our doctors and medical staff to provide more comprehensive, quality care for our patients without delay or disruption," Says Loretta Tharp, Director of Development and Public Relations for the Centers. It will also work to prevent duplicate medical costs, offer quicker diagnoses, provide more information for both patients and doctors and help the Centers continue to attain skilled and dedicated medical professionals. That's something "every patient deserves," Loretta adds.
Applicants for the contest were asked to answer three brief questions on need, benefits and community impact. The judging panel cited that "Ms. Tharp clearly demonstrated a critical need for the modernization of health care activities and recordkeeping at her organization. Her summation of the benefit to 35,000 Rhode Islanders as well as the health care staff of physicians and nurses that service them was very compelling."
The runner-up of the contest is the Portsmouth School District, who will receive a half day of free consultations from Atrion.
