Digital Downtown Event Dazzles Wall Street with Top Technology Products

CEA's Industry-Leading Market and Economic Research Presented at Technology Showcase
ARLINGTON, Va. -- The inaugural Digital Downtown consumer technology showcase kicked off yesterday with a day-long conference on industry research and new technology displays and demonstrations to New York's financial community. Digital Downtown, organized in association with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)([R]), the producer of the International CES([R]), runs through June 14 at the World Financial Center in New York City's Financial District.
"Wall Street is a dynamic and vital community for the consumer technology industry," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. "The new Digital Downtown technology showcase succeeded in giving the financial community a unique opportunity to experience the cool new products coming to market."
Digital Downtown featured products and exhibits from leading consumer technology companies, including AMX, Audio Command Systems, B&H Photo Video, Best Buy, Control4, Creston, Gibson Guitar, Hitachi, Home Automation Inc., Intel, Jabra, LG Electronics, Lutron Electronics, Meridian America, Monster Cable, Pioneer, Panasonic, Philips, Roland, Savant Systems, Sharp, Sirius Satellite Radio, SoundSense LLC, TK Theaters, Toshiba, Verizon and VistaMounts LLC. Several exhibiting companies launched new product lines at Digital Downtown, including Hitachi with its new line of 2008 Plasma HDTVs and Monster Cable, in partnership with Sigma Designs, which debuted its new wireless HDAV and UWB-over-coax combination solution.
In addition to product showcases, Digital Downtown featured an impressive conference program for qualified journalists, analysts and researchers focused on the latest industry trends. Presentations from industry experts, including Tim Herbert, senior director, market research, CEA; Steve Koenig, director, market research, CEA and Shawn DuBravac, CEA economist, addressed the latest industry and retail trends, including trends in flat panel televisions, the retail environment and consumer audio.
An industry networking reception also was held on Thursday evening at the World Financial Center for media, financial analysts and members of the trade.
