ADC Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against AFL Telecommunications
Business Wire, June 13, 2008
MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT)(www.adc.com), today announced that the company has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota against AFL Telecommunications LLC. In its Complaint, ADC asserts that AFL infringes U.S. Patent Nos. 7,233,731, 7,277,620 and 7,200,317, which relate to fiber distribution hubs used in ADC's Fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) product line.
ADC is seeking damages and an injunction to prevent the sale of AFL's fiber distribution hubs and splitter modules that incorporate one or more of ADC's patented features. The company's innovative FTTP solutions improve the routing and management of optical fibers and provide better access to the optical components and fibers within the distribution hub.
"As an industry innovator in FTTP technologies, ADC is dedicated to researching and developing new solutions in this area to better serve our customers," said Jack Field, vice president of Carrier Solutions for ADC. "With more than 5,000 issued and pending patents worldwide, ADC's intellectual property is one of our core assets. As such we are strongly committed to protecting the company's technology investments by enforcing its patent rights."
