OAUG Honors 2008 Exceptional Member Achievements

Business Wire,  June 16, 2008

Recognizes the Dedication and Contributions of Organization's Members

ATLANTA -- The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world's largest user knowledgebase for Oracle Applications users, announced the winners of the 2008 Member of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Exhibitor Showcase Best of Show and President's awards.

Winners were recognized during the OAUG Meeting of the Members held at COLLABORATE 08: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community conference in Denver on April 16. Jan Wagner, OAUG president, and Mike Levin, OAUG executive director, hosted the meeting.

Sandra Vucinic, founder of the Chicago-based VLAD Group, was named this year's Member of the Year for her active participation within the OAUG and her outstanding contributions to the organization and its membership, including her extensive work as director of the Database SIG Board, director of the SysAdmin SIG, committee chair for Oracle Tools and Utilities, director of the Southwest Regional Oracle Applications User Group (SROAUG) Board and director of the Middleware SIG. Her company, VLAD Group, is a woman-owned business specializing in Oracle Applications database management, administration and architecture.

The OAUG also recognized Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC Corp. as its 2008 Innovator of the Year, an award presented to a member company that has demonstrated an innovative breakthrough technique using the standard functionality of an Oracle Application. EMC developed a multi-pronged solution called Application Continuity Tool for its E-Business Suite platform, which resulted in a significant reduction in downtime experienced by the customer service department, enabling the company to further enhance service levels.

The Exhibitor Showcase Best of Show was presented to Hewlett-Packard for its impressive overall presentation of products; notable branding and marketing of the company name; creative booth layout and design; best use of audio/visual and technical implementation; and best overall customer service.

This year's inaugural President's Award, which recognizes an OAUG member's exceptional level of commitment and contribution to the OAUG, was given to Floyd Teter of Pasadena, Calif.-based Jet Propulsion Lab for his invaluable service to the organization, including his active involvement in the OAUG Fusion Council, OAUG's Middleware SIG and the Customer Support Council.

"The winners of these awards all demonstrated a strong commitment to the OAUG and serve as examples on how to play an active and influential role in our organization," said Jan Wagner, president of the OAUG. "Their efforts are instrumental in helping the OAUG execute its objectives in bringing together the people, resources and ideas, which bring added value to the entire Oracle community."
