RGB Networks Demonstrates Advanced Advertising Solutions at NXTcomm
Business Wire, June 16, 2008
Award-winning MVP Enables Telcos to Generate Advertising Revenues From IPTV Deployments
LAS VEGAS -- Here at NXTcomm08, RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, is demonstrating the advanced advertising capabilities of its products, which enable telecom carriers to generate substantial advertising revenues from their IPTV deployments. Demonstrations include seamless MPEG-4/H.264 ad insertion with RGB's Modular Video Processor (MVP), and the real-time localization of national ads by the Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), which will overlay locally relevant information directly onto the ads.
"Advertising is a proven business model that earns cable operators billions every year and an opportunity that telecom carriers must also take full advantage of," said Sanjay Dhar, RGB's Director of Product Marketing, Telecom Market. "RGB has been at the forefront of IPTV advertising applications, and our award-winning MVP and BNP products both enable telecom carriers to generate substantial new advertising revenues as they expand their IPTV deployments."
In its demonstration, RGB's MVP is requesting and receiving ads for local ad insertion from an industry leading ad server. The MVP will then splice the ads into the MPEG-4/H.264 program streams at precisely the right time. Seamlessly and precisely inserting ads at the correct time is vitally important for ensuring that the local ads play in their entirety without any glitches and that the preceding and following ads are not interrupted. The ads and the programs are both in the new MPEG-4/H.264 format, which telecom carriers are increasingly adopting for their IPTV deployments.
"RGB is committed to the telecom market and we're showing that commitment by demonstrating here at NXTcomm our MVP, which just won a coveted NXTcomm Eos award," said Jef Graham, CEO of RGB Networks. "A panel of industry luminaries selected the MVP as an Eos winner, recognizing its combination of features and capabilities are what telecoms need today and in the future to deliver advanced video services."
Complementing its MPEG-4/H.264 advanced advertising solution, RGB is also demonstrating the overlay capabilities of its BNP, which enables service providers to easily localize national ads by adding locally relevant information, including local addresses, websites and other information. The BNP can overlay this information in real-time in the form of text, graphics and even full-motion video to existing ads. This overlay approach dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of localizing ads, eliminating the need for the traditional approach of extensive post-production editing.
Next-Generation Advertising Presentation at NXTcomm
In addition to its demonstrations, RGB will provide an overview presentation entitled "Next-Generation Advertising for Telcos" in the NXTploration Theater, booth #SL8322 on the show floor, Wednesday, June 18 at 2 p.m. Sanjay Dhar will review the advertising opportunity and discuss the "how tos" of implementing local and targeted advertising solutions for MPEG-2, MPEG-4/H.264 and IPTV infrastructures so that telecom carriers can earn significant ad revenues today.
About the Modular Video Processor
The MVP is a complete IPTV solution, combining RGB's proven video processing capabilities with a highly-reliable NEBS-compliant chassis to enable telecom carriers to offer a full range of digital video services, including HDTV. The MVP has been designed specifically for telecom carriers, combining support for MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 advanced processing, switching and ad insertion in a highly reliable chassis.
A panel of 15 telecom industry luminaries recently awarded the MVP a coveted NXTcomm Eos award as the best 'Content Delivery and Management' solution.
