NEW YORK -- FOX News Channel (FNC) has signed Lanny Davis as a political analyst and regular contributor, announced Bill Shine, Senior Vice President of Programming.

Davis, a graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School currently serves as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the global law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe where he is a litigator and public policy advisor and leads the firm's unique "Legal Strategic and Crisis Communications" group.

In 2005, he was also appointed by President Bush personally to serve on the five-member Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board as a result of the 9/11 commission recommendation and created by the passage of the Intelligence Reform Act.

Previously, Davis served as Special Counsel to President Clinton from 1996-98, serving as White House spokesperson concerning various legal matters. In 2006 he authored "Scandal: How 'Gotcha' Politics is Destroying America."

In making the announcement, Shine said, "Lanny's extensive political experience will serve as a major asset to our continuing election coverage."

Davis added, "I consider FOX News to be a network that genuinely tries to be balanced, offering political perspectives from all sides, and I look forward to providing political analysis and information to its audience at a time of great and historic national importance."

While serving in private practice, Davis applied his experience in creating press and high-profile legal crisis strategies acting as a practicing attorney for entities facing regulatory matters and high-profile litigation. He has counseled government contractors and corporations on crisis management, including high-tech securities fraud cases, where media coverage may directly affect legal outcomes.

Davis has served the public in national, state and local politics, for nearly three decades. He carried three terms on the Democratic National Committee representing the State of Maryland, 1980 through 1992, while simultaneously serving on the DNC Executive Committee as Chairman of the Eastern Region Caucus.

He also authored a memoir regarding his media and legal roles at the Clinton White House entitled "Truth to Tell: Tell It Early, Tell It All, Tell It Yourself: Notes from My White House Education" (1999), "The Emerging Democratic Majority: Lessons and Legacies from the New Politics" (1973). In addition, he has written numerous op-ed pieces in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angles Times among other national publications, as well as having made many appearances on national TV and radio news and analysis shows for over two decades.
