Toshiba Appoints Mark Simons President and Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc

IRVINE, Calif. -- Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS), today designated Mark Simons to become the company's next president and chief executive officer. Simons will succeed Masa Fukakushi, who will become chairman and chief executive officer of Toshiba America, Inc. Simons will have responsibilities for TAIS's group business, which comprises four separate units: Digital Products Division, Imaging Systems Division, Storage Device Division, and Telecommunication Systems Division. Fukakushi and Simons will take up their new duties effective today.
Prior to his new position, Simons served more than 15 years at TAIS, most recently as the vice president and general manager, and before that as vice president of sales, for Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. During his tenure, Simons was responsible for driving the performance and establishing the company's laptop computer business as an industry leader.

Jeff Barney will succeed Simons as vice president and general manager for Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. Barney will lead the company's multi-billion dollar laptop computer business in the United States. His vision is to further grow Toshiba's dominant position in the retail market for laptop computers and expand small business markets.

Barney, an Orange County, Calif. native, began his career with Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. more than 19 years ago upon graduating from California State University, Fullerton.
