Business Wire, June 16, 2008

Combination with boutique Boston-based law firm will enhance Firm's Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property practice areas

BOSTON -- Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, a full service 200-attorney law firm, has opened a downtown Boston office with the addition of four new attorneys. This new office and attorney group positions Hiscock & Barclay to accommodate additional opportunities for growth in Boston and the Northeast markets.

"We opened our first Boston Metro office in Westborough in early 2007 and expanding our presence with a downtown Boston location provides an exciting opportunity for future growth," said John P. Langan, Managing Partner. "We're confident these skilled attorneys, with deep roots in the Boston legal community from their tenure with Hale and Dorr, LLP to their own firm of Scibelli, Whiteley and Stanganelli, LLP, will lead to expansions of the firm's client base in Massachusetts as well as the rest of the New England region."

The new office is located in the Financial District at 50 Federal Street. The firm also maintains a Massachusetts office in Westborough.

Attorneys in the group include, Anthony A. Scibelli (Partner), Joseph L. Stanganelli (Partner), Brian E. Whiteley (Partner), and Carolyn A. Marcotte (Associate). They join the Firm's Westborough attorneys Joseph Milstein, Joel Stettenheim and Duan Wu.

Scibelli focuses his practice on civil litigation matters. He represents corporate and individual clients in a variety of contexts, including suits concerning software licensing and warranty disputes, public utilities litigation, trade secret and non-competition litigation, business contract disputes, shareholder disputes, commercial evictions, and real estate litigation. Scibelli also advises companies with respect to employment practices and policies. Prior to joining Hiscock & Barclay, Scibelli was a Founding Partner with Scibelli, Whiteley and Stanganelli, LLP. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School.

Stanganelli has extensive experience with a wide array of civil litigation issues. He represents corporate and individual clients in a variety of matters, including complex commercial cases, intellectual property and unfair competition suits, technology licensing and warranty disputes, securities litigation and real estate disputes. Prior to joining Hiscock & Barclay, Stanganelli was a Partner with Scibelli, Whiteley and Stanganelli, LLP. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Whiteley's practice focuses on civil litigation. He represents corporate and individual clients in a variety of contexts, including employment discrimination and wrongful termination suits, product liability and wrongful death actions, health care, ERISA and antitrust litigation, software licensing and warranty disputes, trade secret and non-competition cases, and real estate actions. He also advises large and small corporations with respect to employment practices and policies. Prior to joining Hiscock & Barclay, Whitely was a Founding Partner with Scibelli, Whiteley and Stanganelli, LLP. He is a graduate of St. John's University School of Law.

Marcotte focuses her practice in the area of commercial litigation. She represents businesses and individuals in a variety of contexts including business contract disputes, employment discrimination, real estate transactions, and securities litigation. Prior to joining Hiscock & Barclay, Marcotte was an Associate with Scibelli, Whiteley and Stanganelli, LLP. She is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School.

"Hiscock & Barclay will allow us to serve our existing client base with a much wider breadth of services," said Scibelli, and "the fit and personality of Hiscock & Barclay was a great complement to our client service philosophy and what we were also looking for to grow our client base." "We look forward to being part of a firm with a solid history and plan to grow in the Boston area, as well as throughout the Northeast," said Stanganelli.

"We need to look to high-value markets to accomplish our long-term goals for growth and to augment the range of our resources for clients," according to Langan. "There are clear synergies between the growth of our Boston location and the planned expansion of our New York office scheduled for announcement later this summer," said Langan.

As a law firm with eight strategic offices throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, the Boston office uniquely positions Hiscock & Barclay to assist our clients with the full range of business and legal issues they confront.
