Empower Technologies Announces Significant Purchase Orders for High-Performance Single Board Computer

EPT's Pioneering Computer Enables Advanced Image Processing Capability for an Expanse of Intelligent Media Devices, Applications and Appliances
RICHMOND, British Columbia -- Empower Technologies (TSX.V:EPT) announced today that the company has signed a purchase order agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the purchase of Empower's innovative Single Board Computer, the SBC644x.
Empower's SBC644x is based on a Linux Embedded OS ("LEOs[R]"), and is made specifically to enable intelligent media devices for markets in mobile, portable navigation, set-top box, security and surveillance, and transportation infotainment systems - and anywhere high-performance image processing is required.

Leung said more details will be forthcoming in the future from MIT on how Empower's computer solution will be deployed, and he anticipates additional purchase orders from MIT in the future.
The SBC644x was developed with the Empower's EDK6446 development kit utilizing the latest version of Empower's Linux Embedded OS (LEOs). The EDK target hardware development platform includes a dual-core SoC (system-on-chip) embedded CPU, and an optional 4.3" TFT LCD touch panel, ready for 16:9 movie presentations. The video processing power is the most powerful feature of the new development platform.
On May 12, Empower also announced a five-year, $40 million purchase order from Advantec Computer Systems to supply industrial handheld computers to their VAR and System Integrator networks. Advantec will distribute Empower's OEM/ODM industrial handheld and tablets through its vast distribution network to the healthcare, hospitality, field repair, utilities, transportation, retail, public safety/government industries.
