New Selector Switches From Cables To Go Provide Flexible, Affordable Digital Signage Implementations

Business Wire,  June 18, 2008

LAS VEGAS -- Cables To Go[TM], a leading provider of high-performance cabling and connectivity solutions, today announced new selector switches for routing audio and video in smaller digital signage applications, such as schools and restaurants or for home installation.

The 3x5 Component Video Matrix Selector Switch carries high-definition video signals from any of three source devices to any of five TVs or monitors. It provides an affordable video distribution solution for home installations and small to medium venues, such as churches, restaurants and bars. Audio is transmitted via optical digital audio TOSLINK or stereo audio connections.

Users can connect inputs such as DVD players, satellite receivers, cable set-top boxes or gaming systems via component cables to the matrix selector switch. The switch can then be controlled with a remote control, front-panel buttons or from a computer using RS-232 control.

"The 3x5 Component Video Matrix Switch provides great flexibility to mix and match video signals across a number of displays," said Gary Hess, Cables To Go director of product management. "It eliminates the tie of a single source device to a single display and gives users control over their system to watch what they want where they want."

For transmitting a video and audio signal in a classroom or school setting, Cables To Go has four new matrix switches and switcher/extenders for up to four computer inputs and up to four display devices. Built-in video signal enhancement allows for long cable runs without losing video quality. All of the devices work with VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, UXGA and Multisync monitors.

The four new UXGA switches include:

* TruLink 2-port UXGA Monitor Switcher/Extender with Audio - select and broadcast video output and audio from one of two computers on a single monitor or projector and send audio from those computers to a single speaker set

* TruLink 4-port UXGA Monitor Switcher/Extender with Audio - select and broadcast video output and audio from one of four computers on a single monitor or projector and send audio from those computers to a single speaker set

* TruLink 2x2 UXGA Video/Audio Matrix Switch - broadcast audio and video from up to two computers to up to two monitors

* TruLink 4x4 UXGA Video/Audio Matrix Switch - broadcast audio and video from up to four computers to up to four monitors

Hess added, "The TruLink switchers provide a very powerful solution for conference rooms and classrooms. There are only a few other solutions for these type of installations that may cost as much as a thousand dollars, but Cables To Go delivers similar functionality and quality for a fraction of the price."

The backbone of quality digital signage and signal control systems is the devices and cables that distribute information from a source device to multiple displays. The new switchers are part of a complete line of digital signage and signal control connectivity solutions that include all the distribution devices, cables, boosters and connectors required to transmit from both PC and A/V inputs.

The 3x5 Component Video Matrix Selector Switch and the four new TruLink switchers are now available from Cables To Go partners. The digital signage and A/V distribution family of products will be demonstrated at InfoComm 2008 in Booth N6757 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
