Jones Day Welcomes International Oil & Gas Deals Partner in Houston

HOUSTON -- Jones Day announced that oil and gas lawyer Shahid Ghauri has joined the Houston office as a partner.

Formerly the head of Hunton & Williams' oil and gas practice, Mr. Ghauri focuses on oil and gas transactions, project development and finance, M&A, joint ventures and other transactions in the global energy industry. He has significant experience in the acquisition and disposition of assets and stock of energy companies and in the implementation of oil and gas exploration and development projects throughout the world. Having negotiated many transactions with Middle Eastern and Asian investors, Mr. Ghauri also has substantial experience with Islamic or Shari'ah-compliant financing and investment structures.

A graduate of the University of Houston Law Center (J.D. 1996) and the University of Texas at Austin (M.S. in Petroleum Engineering 1993; B.S. in Petroleum Engineering 1990), Mr. Ghauri worked as a field engineer for Schlumberger in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 1991 to 1993.
