Axentis Launches New Secure Internet Single Sign-On

Business Wire,  June 18, 2008

Partnership with Ping Identity Eases Integration of Complementary Applications into the SaaS-based GRC Environment

CLEVELAND -- Axentis, providers of the industry's most comprehensive and widely deployed governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management solution, today announced availability of secure Internet Single Sign-On (SSO) through Ping Identity's PingFederate.

According to Gartner research, "The best option, if available from the SaaS provider, is to federate. This enables the enterprise to use industry standard federation protocols to provide SSO." (Options for Single Sign-on to SaaS Applications, Greg Kreizman & Ray Wagner, February 29, 2008)

AXENTIS Enterprise[TM] customers have always been able to integrate compatible and complementary applications under Axentis' single administration dashboard. And, federated identity is increasingly being used by large companies in a variety of industries such as financial services. Now, such companies that also deploy AXENTIS Enterprise[TM] benefit from quickly integrating and easily administering multiple applications under Axentis' single management dashboard.

"By expanding customer options for secure Internet Single Sign-on, this new option advances Axentis' overall strategy of minimizing IT effort and expense while ensuring integration into the enterprise environment," said Dean Baumann, CTO of Axentis. "Users can seamlessly access Axentis software, reducing IT expense and effort surrounding user administration and maintenance. Customers managing thousands of users will reap considerable financial and operational benefits."

Secure Internet Single Sign-On enables Axentis users to log on once to their corporate network and access all Axentis-linked applications without having to log in again. In turn, SSO offers Axentis customers significant security enhancements in addition to easier administration. For example, the feature minimizes potential phishing attacks. The assignment and restoration of credentials is also dramatically simplified for IT managers overseeing AXENTIS Enterprise[TM] access for what can amount to thousands of employees, vendors and contractors in a single company.

"Simplified user credentialing also reduces the potential for identity theft by reducing the number of credentials that can be compromised. Furthermore, if logon information is illegally obtained, IT managers can immediately shut down all of the programs being accessed through the SSO system," said Michael Donaldson, Vice President of Marketing, Ping Identity.

Implemented around the SAML 2.0 federated identity standard, the new option is based on Ping Identity's PingFederate technology. For more information on AXENTIS Enterprise[TM] with PingFederate, please visit here.
