Qwest Names Kurt Fawkes to Lead Investor Relations; Rahn Porter to Head Telecom's Treasury Department
Business Wire, June 2, 2008
DENVER -- Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced that Kurt Fawkes will join the company as senior vice president of investor relations. Senior Vice President Rahn Porter, currently leading Qwest's investor relations, will assume the role of senior vice president and treasurer, and will replace Janet Cooper, who will be leaving the company.
Fawkes and Porter will report to John W. Richardson, Qwest executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective June 9.
Fawkes joins Qwest from Sprint Nextel, where he led the investor relations organization since 1994. Prior to that role, Fawkes oversaw financial planning for Sprint's network and information technology organizations. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and a master's in business administration from the University of Kansas.
Porter has more than 30 years of industry experience and, prior to leading investor relations, served as Qwest's vice president and assistant treasurer. In that role, he managed strategic relationships with financial institutions and credit-rating agencies.
"We welcome the strong relationships with the investment community and vast experience in the telecom industry that Kurt brings to this function," Richardson said. "Rahn played a critical leadership role in our treasury organization with Janet and we're excited to see him step forward in this role. I want to thank Janet for her contributions to Qwest and wish her the best in her future endeavors."
