Atlanta-based VAR Achieves Highest Level in VMware Partner Program

NORCROSS, Ga. -- Optimus Solutions, a comprehensive technology solutions provider and value-added reseller (VAR), today announced it has achieved VMware Premier Partner Status. This achievement substantiates Optimus' efforts to become a virtual infrastructure expert by investing in its technical engineers and training.

Steve Johnson, president of Optimus Solutions, said, "This accomplishment enables us to create more strategic and innovative virtualization solutions for our clients. In addition, it shows our business partners that we can provide optimal solutions through experienced, VMware-certified professionals. The additional VMware support and services granted with Premier Status should greatly enhance the depth and breadth of our virtualization solutions, enabling our clients to maximize ROI."

With the top-level partner status, Optimus will receive expanded technical and marketing services, more VMware software licenses for testing and integration, support for developing go-to-market plans, and the ability to participate in more VMware-sponsored events. Optimus, whose virtualization business grew 146 percent from 2006 to 2007, is one of 57 VMware Premier Partners in the U.S.

Steve Houck, vice president of worldwide channels at VMware, said, "We congratulate Optimus on achieving VMware Premier Partner Status, the highest status level in the VMware VIP Partner Program. VMware virtualization is the ideal platform for helping customers reduce capital and operating expenses, ensure business continuity, strengthen security and improve energy efficiencies. With VMware Premier Partner Status, Optimus can continue delivering game-changing VMware virtualization solutions as well as expand its services offerings to address customers' demanding business requirements."

Kevin Houston, business development manager at Optimus Solutions, added, "Our Premier Partner Status reflects our proven track record in the virtualization business, which continues to experience substantial growth across all industry segments and in organizations of all sizes. The new resources available to us as a Premier Partner provide a significant value-add to our clients and business partners, and demonstrate our strategic commitment to delivering solutions based on the VMware virtualization platform."

How to Win at Office Politics

Like it or not, every workplace is a political environment. But operating effectively within it doesn’t have to mean sucking up, lying, or slinging dirt. In its purest form, office politics is simply about getting from here to there: securing a promotion, seeing an idea come to fruition, or gaining support to make an organizational change. Playing the game well is about defending your position, earning respect, exchanging favors, and keeping your sanity amid the chaos. To get started, you need to know what you really want from work, then orient your political moves toward those goals. It all starts with strong relationships and helping others; those people in return make up the support system that helps you realize your goals. Here’s how it’s done.
