Category Killer: Move Over Blackhawk and InComm — GiftClixx is Here to Stay

Business Wire,  June 23, 2008

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- GiftClixx LLC is the newest third party gift card distribution company with a unique twist created by SmartClixx, LLC founder and CEO, Gary Dinkin and his wife, Linda.

For over seven years, SmartClixx([R]) has been the leading software provider in the self-hosted stored value card arena, with clients that include Southwest Airlines, The TJX Companies, Books-A-Million, Charming Shoppes, Saks Inc., Boscov's Department Stores, Alltel Wireless, Chico's and many others. SmartClixx has replaced third party processing providers including FirstData/Valuelink, Comdata/SVS, and others because of their high processing fees, limited functionality, and lack of control.

"Providing a better platform with 100% uptime, faster transaction speeds, better security, and superior service is something that we are all extremely proud of. Our 100% customer retention and year-over-year profitability says it all," stated Dinkin.

Having interfaced to both Blackhawk and InComm third party distribution providers through its proprietary SmartClixx SxDistribution module, Dinkin heard numerous stories from both SmartClixx and non-SmartClixx retailers regarding third party challenges and created a new market opportunity with the formation of GiftClixx[TM].

GiftClixx is a unique and proprietary peer to peer transaction routing and hosted service that allows retailers to communicate and negotiate directly. GiftClixx is currently in the process of patenting its application.

"Over inflated price points, extremely restrictive agreements, limited distribution channels, installation and service challenges, settlement issues, and the inability for direct retailer to retailer negotiations from the Blackhawks and InComms of the world were the reasons for creating GiftClixx," stated Dinkin. "To be fair, these companies are very strong from a marketing perspective, but are lacking the technical expertise that we possess. We believe that they also have been charging excessive fees for the service that they provide."

"Instead of charging retailers a few percentage points or more based on the `face' value of the card, GiftClixx is only charging pennies per transaction activation. This could represent a savings of 90% or more over what the competitors charge for their service. Where every penny counts in today's environment, their fees could run millions of dollars higher depending on the number of transactions, and it simply isn't fair to the retailer," said Dinkin.

GiftClixx services include peer to peer transaction processing, settlement and reconciliation, web reporting, and inventory management. GiftClixx is POS and processor independent and can work with any large retailer or bank that processes transactions through a centralized payment switch or has internet connectivity and can support real-time, batch, or web activations. GiftClixx is currently in negotiations with several very large retailers and banks and expects to launch in time for this holiday season.
