Prudential Delivers Comprehensive Voluntary Benefits Strategies and Services Designed to Enhance Overall Client Experience

Poised to implement expanded enrollment online tools and services in time for 2008 annual enrollment

NEWARK, N.J. -- As the role and importance of voluntary benefits continues to grow, with increased cost implications for both employers and their employees, Prudential Financial, Inc.'s (NYSE:PRU) Group Insurance business announced today enhancements to its voluntary benefits service platform designed to make it easier for businesses to offer and administer cost-effective benefits solutions.

"The voluntary benefits industry has evolved in recent years, as plan sponsors have shifted greater financial responsibility and decision making to their employees for their insurance and retirement benefits," said James Gemus, vice president of Life Product Management for Prudential's Group Insurance business. "Plan sponsors are looking for insight into how to better communicate to and educate their employees on benefit plan offerings. These employers view web technology, as well as customized enrollment support and materials as vital components in meeting the needs of their employees."

Prudential's comprehensive voluntary benefits service platform is being broadened in preparation for this year's annual enrollment season. New for the fall, Prudential will launch an enrollment website and related enrollment support center designed to help existing clients and prospects ease the administrative burden associated with annual enrollment experience. "Simplifying and streamlining the enrollment experience for both employers and employees is central to our strategy and we're excited to bring these important enhancements online leading up to this year's enrollment period," said Gemus.

Group Insurance's Enrollment Website is being developed as a one-stop repository of extensive education materials for employers and their employees. Tailored images and materials allow for the site experience to be customized to an individual's life stage and demographics. Simplified screens will make enrollment easier, as well as enable employees to calculate how much insurance they need. It will also simplify the Evidence of Insurability process for life and disability employees.

Complementary to the website, the new Enrollment Support Center will make it easier for an employer to offer voluntary life or disability by relieving the employer of a variety of administrative burdens. In addition, Group Insurance has streamlined its approach to implementing voluntary benefits for businesses with fewer than 500 covered employees and can provide customized enrollment kits at the touch of a button.

"We believe our new service offerings will help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our clients' benefits administration, while also helping employees better understand and realize the value of their employee benefit plans," said Gemus.

Prudential's Group Insurance business manufactures and distributes a full range of group life, long-term and short-term group disability, long-term care, and corporate and trust-owned life insurance in the U.S. to institutional clients primarily for use in connection with employee and membership benefits plans. Group Insurance also sells accidental death and dismemberment and other ancillary coverages and provides plan administrative services in connection with its insurance coverages.
