Nucleus Research Issues Report Showing Investment in PeopleCube's Resource Scheduler Results in Reduced Real Estate And Energy Costs and Improved Talent Recruitment

Business Wire,  June 23, 2008

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- PeopleCube, provider of workplace, resource, and energy management technology, today announced the results of an independent study by Nucleus Research on the value of resource management technology. Nucleus found companies that implemented resource scheduling solutions such as PeopleCube's were able to better manage conference rooms and shared workspaces to reduce real estate and energy costs, while improving employee recruiting and retention.

"Companies can deploy resource management technology to improve productivity, evaluate asset utilization, and support telecommuting and flexible working initiatives," said Rebecca Wettemann, vice president, research, for Nucleus Research. "When these solutions are fully integrated into telecommuting programs and real-estate departments, companies can reduce their carbon footprint and improve employee retention and recruitment, while reducing the cost of owning, renting, heating, and cooling real estate."

Findings Support PeopleCube's Industry Experience

"Companies are spending more than they realize--and more than they should--managing their workspace and energy consumption," said John T. Anderson, president and CEO of PeopleCube. "Companies that use resource management technology to measure and manage space utilization are in a far better position to maximize the utilization of real estate they own or rent and to decrease energy usage. When they minimize the amount of real estate they occupy, they simultaneously decrease heating and cooling needs. Measurement and reduction of resources is especially valuable to environmentally conscious companies with 'green' initiatives."

Supporting Flexible Work Programs and Telecommuting

Nucleus Research identified opportunities for enterprises to reduce costs and improve employee retention with better support for flexible work programs such as part-time roles, job-sharing, or telecommuting--particularly valuable in a time of record-high gasoline prices. It found that, given the value employees place on energy conservation and accommodating work options, investment in tools automating the administration of real estate and shared space paid off in terms of successful work programs, giving workers the flexibility they crave, while decreasing space requirements for employers.

Nucleus Research also noted that many telecommuting initiatives within companies are currently operating with minimal support. It indicated that resource management technology can help companies provide program administrators with the data they need to properly acquire and assign office space, provide a user-friendly way to enable users to reserve rooms, and give the enterprise a window into its space needs.
