The MED Implements MEDSEEK's Physician Portal

Business Wire,  June 23, 2008

Staff Can Now Access All Clinical Data Instantly with a Single Sign-On

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, a 347-bed county hospital known locally as The MED, has successfully implemented a physician portal from MEDSEEK, the leading provider of enterprise portal connectivity solutions. Since the portal went live in February 2008, the University of Tennessee-affiliated teaching hospital has supplied its resident and attending physicians with seamless access to all clinical data in its MEDITECH information system. As a result, The MED has improved the quality of care for its patients.

Jim Leonard, CIO of The MED, said his hospital was impressed by the ease and speed of the implementation. "MEDSEEK really understands how physicians work and what they need from a clinical portal," he said. "This portal gives doctors instant access to all of our information systems at the point of care, allowing them to make better and more timely patient care decisions."

The MED chose MEDSEEK, he added, because of its large number of successful installations. MEDSEEK recently announced a 100 percent rise in sales bookings for the first quarter of 2008, compared to the same period a year earlier.

"MEDSEEK's portal has established its value to health care systems by improving clinical outcomes and increasing physician and patient satisfaction," said Peter Kuhn, president of MEDSEEK.

The Clinical eConnect Manager and Dashboard that The MED purchased from MEDSEEK enables authorized users to view data across all of the disparate systems in an enterprise with a single sign-on. The Clinical eConnect solution comes with an extensive interface library, containing more than 130 HIS, department and clinical connections and advanced eHealth channels.
