Matheson Gerds Advertising Earns National Awards for Emory Healthcare Advertising Campaigns
Business Wire, June 24, 2008
ATLANTA -- Matheson Gerds Advertising earned top awards at the 25th annual Healthcare Advertising Awards for its innovative Emory Healthcare advertising campaigns. Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest, largest and most prestigious advertising awards competition in the healthcare industry. More than 3,500 entries were submitted last year from every state in the nation, as well as from multiple countries around the world.
"It is always a special honor to be recognized by prestigious organizations comprised of your colleagues and peers," said Una Hutton Newman, chief marketing officer for Emory Healthcare and Emory University. "We are fortunate to have such a talented team. I am very proud of the level of creative work and dedication each member provides that makes our final product worthy of such recognition."
The Emory Crawford Long Hospital campaign features well-known Midtown, Atlanta landmarks, such as the High Museum, Fox Theatre and the Georgian Terrace Hotel, and replaces the "H" in each name with Emory's signature blue "H" hospital road sign.
"Our first assignment was to raise awareness that Crawford Long is an Emory Hospital in the heart of the city, offering the same high level of service you would expect from Emory Hospital's main campus," said Jannie Matheson Gerds, chief executive officer and creative director of Matheson Gerds Advertising. "Most Atlantans recognize the Crawford Long Hospital brand, but many don't know that it has been an Emory facility since 1940."
In addition to raising awareness of Crawford Long Hospital, Matheson Gerds Advertising also developed a campaign for Emory Sports Medicine Center.
"The Emory Sports Medicine Center was hosting two seminars to help Peachtree Road Race runners prevent injuries, manage pain and prepare for the race by eating and drinking properly beforehand," said Rob Gerds, director of client services for Matheson Gerds Advertising. "In order to draw runners to the seminars, we developed a headline to grab their attention: 'You don't run for the money. You don't run for the glory. You run for the T-shirt.' And it worked!"
