BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- With more than 80 percent of Iowa counties declared disaster areas, nearly 40,000 families displaced, and with tens of thousands of homes and businesses beginning a lengthy clean-up process, AAA Minnesota/Iowa contributed $50,000 and clean-up supplies to the American Red Cross Iowa Flood Relief efforts.

"We have 16 branch offices and nearly 300,000 members in Iowa. Seeing the devastation they were experiencing, we were compelled to help," said Randy Williams, President of AAA Minnesota/Iowa.

The four SUV loads of bleach, mops, buckets and latex gloves were collected via donations from AAA employees as well as other Minnesotans throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area last week and transported to Cedar Rapids today by AAA SUV convoy for distribution to those in need. Upon arrival of the AAA SUV convoy, a check was also presented to the American Red Cross in Cedar Rapids for all areas affected by the Iowa flood disaster.

AAA Minnesota/Iowa, which includes more than 778,000 members, offers automotive, travel, insurance and financial services. It is part of The Auto Club Group (ACG), the largest affiliation of AAA clubs in the Midwest, with 4.1 million members in eight states. ACG clubs belong to the national AAA federation, a not-for-profit organization, with more than 51 million members in the United States and Canada.
