Former Newspaper Relationship Manager at CareerBuilder.com to Manage Mobile Advertising Offerings for Publishers
ENCINITAS, Calif. -- Verve Wireless, a leading mobile technology platform for local media companies, today announced the appointment of Kendall Marolda to the position of vice president of local market development. Marolda joins Verve from CareerBuilder.com, where she served as a newspaper relationship manager in charge of integrating the CareerBuilder.com property into the ad sales platforms of select newspaper partners. At Verve, Marolda will work closely with local publishers to help them understand the nuances of the mobile Web and how best to extend and monetize their content on this growing medium.
"I'm looking forward to connecting local media with Verve's mobile publishing tools and in turn the mobile Web revenue stream. Local newspapers and city papers have spent generations building intimate relationships with the communities they serve - which is one of their strongest assets," said Marolda. "We'll pave the way for local media outlets to capitalize on the next shift towards local, actionable content purposed for an increasingly mobile society."
At CareerBuilder.com, Marolda developed and managed unique strategies for integrating the company's online products and media packages across 27 West Coast markets to enable new revenue generating opportunities for regional newspapers. Under Marolda's leadership, the West Coast group of papers generated incremental revenue increases totaling to over 500% between the years of 2005 and 2007, and her team sold the largest contract deal in newspaper team history for four years in a row. Marolda's responsibilities also included the development, maintenance and measurement of local and industry specific marketing campaigns for CareerBuilder.com.
"Accessing news and content on mobile devices is not the same experience as reading print or sitting at a computer - mobile serves a different purpose," said Art Howe, veteran newspaper publisher and CEO of Verve Wireless. "Advances in mobile broadband, improved user-interface and location-based technologies provide an opportunity for local publishers unlike print or online. Marolda's in-depth experience of helping regional newspaper ad sales departments monetize their assets on the Web will be instrumental to us at Verve."
