New York Times Best-selling Author of "The Shack" to Speak at Mariners Church July 2, 5 and 6

Business Wire, June 30, 2008

IRVINE, Calif. -- Mariners Church in Irvine is giving Southern California residents no less than five chances to meet the author and hear the inspiration behind the New York Times and USA Today No. 1 best-seller, "The Shack."

William Paul Young, who wrote the runaway hit while commuting by train between his home in Gresham, Ore., and job in Portland, will be featured during a Q&A session on July 2, 2008, at 7 p.m. in the Mariners Church Worship Center. Young will also serve as the guest speaker during the church's regularly scheduled worship services at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on July 5, and at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 6.

Following the July 2 Q&A and July 5 service at 6:30 p.m., the author will sign copies of his book in the church's Global Bookstore, located adjacent to the Worship Center.

All events are free and open to all members of the local community, regardless of religious or church affiliation.

"The Shack" debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times trade paperback fiction best-seller list on June 8, 2008, and has stayed there ever since. It is currently No. 1 on Borders Group's trade fiction paperback list, and has been No. 1 on Barnes & Noble's trade paperback list since the end of May, outselling Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth," selected by Oprah Winfrey's book club in January.
