Named Recipients of the 'Champion of Workplace Learning and Performance Award.'
LINCOLN, Mass. -- Palladium Group, Inc., the leading professional services firm helping clients execute their strategies, today announced that Dr. David P. Norton, Director of Palladium and Co-founder of Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, and Dr. Robert S. Kaplan, Chairman of Professional Practice at Palladium and Baker Foundation Professor at Harvard Business School, were named recipients of the prestigious Champion of Workplace Learning and Performance Award at the annual awards ceremony during the 2008 ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) International Conference and Exposition.
The award was presented to Drs. Norton and Kaplan in recognition of their advocacy in support of learning and performance in the workplace. ASTD honored them by stating how their work on strategy execution and the Balanced Scorecard has had a "substantial and sustained impact on learning organizations." The Society further asserted that "the scorecard recognize[s] that learning is critical to creating breakthrough performance and is the essential foundation for success of knowledge-worker organizations." Norton and Kaplan were also cited "for providing an approach which focuses on measuring the outputs of learning and quantifies the value of learning to business, and, for helping to increase the credibility of learning in organizations by making it more measurable and therefore, more clearly relevant to performance."
Drs. Norton and Kaplan have authored eight Harvard Business Review (HBR) articles and four books: The Balanced Scorecard: Translating Strategy Into Action (1996), The Strategy-Focused Organization: How Balanced Scorecard Companies Thrive in the New Business Environment (2001), Strategy Maps: Converting Intangible Assets into Tangible Outcomes (2004), and Alignment: Using the Balanced Scorecard to Create Corporate Synergies (2006).
