UCBH Holdings, Inc. to Offer $135 Million Non-Cumulative Perpetual Convertible Preferred Stock

SAN FRANCISCO -- UCBH Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:UCBH), the holding company of United Commercial Bank (UCB(TM)), announced today that it intends to offer 135,000 shares, or $135 million in aggregate liquidation preference, of Non-Cumulative Perpetual Convertible Preferred Stock (the "Preferred Stock"). UCBH is also granting the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 20,250 shares, or $20.25 million in aggregate liquidation preference, of Preferred Stock to cover overallotments, if any.
UCBH expects to use the net proceeds from this offering for general corporate purposes.
Merrill Lynch & Co. is serving as the sole book-running manager.
The offering will be made under UCBH's automatic shelf registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 4, 2008.
