First-of-Its-Kind Service for HP Channel Partners Brings Managed Storage Services to the Mid-Market
TEMPE, Ariz. & PALO ALTO, Calif. -- In collaboration with HP (NYSE: HPQ), Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced new managed storage services, HP Electronic Vaulting Services, available through Avnet's HP value-added reseller partners in the U.S. The first of its kind for the channel, HP Electronic Vaulting Services will provide partners' mid-market customers with secure, off-site data back-up and recovery support for a monthly fee. Avnet and HP will co-manage the sales channel.
"Avnet's HP partners understand that managed services are a good way to support clients through a technology refresh cycle," said Rick Alvarez, vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, HP Solutions group. "Mid-market companies need a way to stay current with technology advances without huge up-front capital investment. Avnet and HP have simplified the implementation and management processes so our HP partners can focus on solving their customers' business challenges with a customized solution that is the best fit for them."
HP Electronic Vaulting Services deliver significant value for mid-sized businesses, including costs savings and information security. Budget constraints cause many organizations to back up data to their primary storage systems or to another system in the same location. These storage strategies offer no protection or recovery from equipment failure, site failure, physical security breach or local environmental disaster. Avnet and HP Electronic Vaulting Services address this by providing local and remote back-up for a monthly charge, based upon compressed data volume. This means customers can satisfy their important back-up and recovery requirements within an operating expense budget and without the capital investment required to equip a remote site.
"We've achieved tremendous success in selling managed services at the enterprise level, and now HP is turning to Avnet and its channel to expand our reach into the mid-market," said Suzanne Gagliese, director, Americas Business Continuity and Recovery Services Outsourcing Services at HP. "Avnet's IT hosting and managed services facility created a perfect opportunity for co-launching HP Electronic Vaulting Services to the channel. Avnet has the expertise and infrastructure needed to bring these unique services to market."
This new offering from Avnet and HP enables HP partners to develop managed services revenues, while enhancing the managed services capabilities they have already. After conducting a diagnostic analysis and assessment to determine their customers' storage needs, partners can purchase the services from Avnet as a single line item, priced per gigabyte. HP Electronic Vaulting Services will be hosted in Avnet OneTech Services' tier 4, SAS70 data center.
"Our customers want us to provide solutions that make the most out of their technology dollars, and managed services are a great way to do just that," said John J. Convery, executive vice president of marketing and vendor relations, Denali Advanced Integration. "Avnet and HP's innovative new services get at the heart of a key business challenge for the mid-market - secure storage back-up and recovery. With the new services, we'll be able to bring world-class secure storage capabilities to our customers at an affordable price."
