Jones Day Adds to White Collar and Health Care Practices in Washington and Chicago

Business Wire, June 9, 2008

WASHINGTON & CHICAGO -- The international law firm Jones Day today announced that Jeffrey E. Gordon, a litigator focused on internal investigations and health care compliance and enforcement, has joined the Firm as a partner in the Washington office.

"Jeff is a seasoned courtroom lawyer with broad experience in mediation and arbitration as well," said Mary Ellen Powers, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Washington D.C. office. "We're delighted to have him."

Also joining Jones Day, as of counsel in the Chicago office, is William C. Martin, a litigator who worked closely with Mr. Gordon at their former firm, DLA Piper. Mr. Martin served as Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of California.

"Allegations of fraud and other irregularities in the health care area increasingly demand the kind of specialized experience and talent that Jeff and William provide," said Thomas F. Cullen Jr., a Washington-based partner who leads Jones Day's firmwide Trial practice.

Besides Mr. Gordon's defense of healthcare companies and others in white collar criminal investigations and prosecutions, his litigation practice has encompassed a broad range of disputes including telecommunications, insurance coverage, patents, trademarks, fraud, contracts and investigating the alleged use of performance enhancement substances in Major League Baseball.

Jones Day is an international law firm with 30 locations in centers of business and finance throughout the world. With more than 2,300 lawyers, including more than 400 in Europe and 200 in Asia, it ranks among the world's largest law firms.
