Business Wire, March 10, 2008
SALT LAKE CITY -- Meg Whitman, president and CEO of eBay, will be the keynote speaker for the Utah Technology Council's (UTC) Annual Members' Meeting on March 28.
At the event, Whitman will share business strategy insights with Utah business and community leaders. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Karen Gail Miller Conference Center at the Salt Lake Community College, 9750 S. 300 W., Sandy, UT. Space is limited, so attendees should register as soon as possible at www.utahtechcouncil.org
"Meg Whitman is truly one of the most dynamic and compelling technology executives in the technology industry," said Richard R. Nelson, president of UTC and of the national Council of Regional Information Technology Associations (CRITA). "We look forward to hearing Meg's incredible insights into our future from her unique view at the helm of one of the largest and most successful technology firms in the world. We are most appreciative of Congressman Cannon's personal invitation for her to speak to our members."
Meg Whitman joined eBay as President and CEO in March 1998 when the company was still a small auction website with 30 employees and revenue of $4 million. Since that time, she has been instrumental in helping this Internet pioneer evolve into an unparalleled global e-commerce engine that continues to influence and reshape the way people trade, pay and communicate throughout the world. Meg Whitman is one of only seven women to have been repeatedly ranked among the world's most influential people by Time magazine. Meg attended Princeton University as an undergraduate where she was a member of the student organization Business Today. She received an MBA from Harvard Business School in the summer of 1979.
UTC will celebrate the Council's successes of the last 12 months, as well as present its agenda for 2008. At this event, UTC will also be honoring the 2007 Executives of the Year: CEO, CTO, HR, Emerging Executive, Sales, Trustee and Legislator.
