Socialthing! Launches Service at South by Southwest Interactive;
Also Rolls Out iPhone Application; Lets Users Take Digital Lives on the Road
BOULDER, Colo. -- Socialthing!, a digital life manager for today's social networkers, announced the opening of a private beta for its web-based service, offering users the first truly interactive window into their multiple social networks.
The company said it is also unveiling a beta version of an iPhone application of the Socialthing! service, offering iPhone users the full functionality and benefits of the company's web-based service. Socialthing! is launching its private beta and the beta version of its iPhone application at the 2008 SXSW Interactive Festival, a part of the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas this week.
Simple aggregators, digital lifestyle aggregators and even social networks offer a limited, view-only perspective on the content and online activities of friends on various social networks. Socialthing! lets its users interact across various sites, creating a streamlined way to manage their digital activities -- or online LifeStream - across the Internet. Instead of only viewing content or posts on multiple sites, Socialthing! now lets users post content through its service which immediately populates all their social networks. The service uses proprietary technology to integrate "friend lists" and other content on these sites automatically and with limited subsequent user intervention, effectively creating a single manager for anyone's digital life.
"The proliferation of social networks and the increasing time spent in virtual worlds is encouraging people to manage their online presence more effectively and establish their digital identities," said Matt Galligan, CEO, Socialthing!."
"While a myriad of social networking applications crop up everyday, Socialthing! is the first service to move beyond aggregation to invite people to explore new and entertaining ways to interact with their social networks while diminishing redundancy," he continued.
Users interested in participating in the private beta should visit http://socialthing.com to request an invitation.
In support of the launch, Socialthing! is exhibiting the new services at SXSW Interactive at booths 612/614. Throughout nine days of overlapping conferences, SXSW brings together professionals in a vast array of creative industries gathering to meet, learn, discuss, network, and share tips with each other about how to thrive.
