Business Wire, March 11, 2008
SEATTLE -- SeaMobile[R] Enterprises, the dominant global provider of at-sea communications, connectivity and content services, announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract extension with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. to provide its MTN VSAT satellite communication services. The agreement includes fleet-wide services for the Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises brands.
The agreement calls for SeaMobile's MTN Satellite Services division to provide global C-Band communications services for all new ships introduced during the length of the contract extension, including additional communication services for crew members. As part of the agreement, MTN has expanded its network to meet growing bandwidth requirements and the needs for extended global cruise itineraries.
The global VSAT satellite communications network offered by MTN Satellite Services is "Always-On, Always-Available" and designed for the rugged maritime industry. Royal Caribbean has been a customer of MTN Satellite Services for 10 years and worked with the company to jointly launch the cruise industry's first ships with redundant C-Band antenna systems for maximum reliability.
"We have had a very positive and rewarding partnership with MTN Satellite Services for the past ten years," said Royal Caribbean's Director of Hotel Technology, Patrick Manuel. "We depend on the reliability of the global coverage, systems and equipment they provide, as well as the outstanding customer support. We are happy to extend this vital service to all our new vessels."
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.," said Brent Horwitz, Vice President of Sales for MTN Satellite Services. "Royal Caribbean is absolutely committed to providing state-of-the-art equipment and services aboard their ships, and we are grateful to help contribute to that experience for their crew and guests."
