KMWorld Magazine Names Copyright Clearance Center One of the '100 Companies that Matter Most in Knowledge Management'
Business Wire, March 11, 2008
DANVERS, Mass. -- Copyright Clearance Center, the world's largest provider of copyright licensing solutions, has been named one of the "100 Companies that Matter Most in Knowledge Management" by KMWorld Magazine.
KMWorld's annual list, now in its eighth year, appears in the March issue of the magazine. It was compiled by knowledge-management practitioners, theorists, analysts, vendors and their customers.
CCC's licensing and rights-management services are used by thousands of companies around the world to simplify and accelerate the sharing of content within their enterprises.
"We have long held that the true essence of knowledge management is an attitude, a single-minded commitment to improvement," said Hugh McKellar, editor-in-chief of KMWorld. "And companies on our list simply must emphasize an abiding determination to serve their most important constituency: their customers. They must also show agile innovation combined with a full understanding of the forces that affect, and will affect, their customers."
CCC's newest service, Rightsphere, is an online rights advisory and management service that helps corporations manage information about the rights they have to publications and databases and delivers instant answers to employee rights-related questions.
Rightsphere has been adopted by a growing list of leading corporations, including AstraZeneca, Baxter, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Pfizer and Philip Morris.
KMWorld's nod is the latest of several notable awards CCC has won in the past year. In August 2007, KMWorld named Rightsphere a "Trend-Setting Product of the Year." In November 2007, CCC was also named to eContent magazine's "EContent 100." And last April, Rightsphere won the Software & Information Industry Association's Codie Award for "Best Solution Integrating Content into Workflow."
"We're honored by this award from KMWorld," said Tracey Armstrong, President and Chief Executive Officer of CCC. "Our mission is to build licensing solutions that support the many ways people produce, access and use information. As content models and user needs evolve, we're determined to keep pace. It's great to see that being recognized."
